3D Design  |  Character Design

A visual introspection through post-humanist and surrealist interpretation of the human form, using Blender.

The J.L. series is an on-going exploration of identity and the journey to self-discovery. It delves into the procedural material experiments and the manipulation of humanoid shapes. Using the initials J.L., my own, the series develops more than their literal meaning, instead echoing Jungian concepts, where the digital medium becomes a tool for introspection, allowing for a visual dialogue with my subconscious.

J.L. V portrays a figure with a texture like wood and charcoal, carved with intricate patterns. A breathing apparatus, shaped like another human head, connects at the neck, its transparency revealing the figure's inner metallic structure. This visual piece blends the organic with the mechanical, showing the detailed metal inside the figure, under its calm, hard surface.

J.L. IV presents a semi-transparent figure in culotte-style clothes, standing in a post-apocalyptic landscape. The figure wears a backpack shaped like an open-mouthed head, from which black tubes extend, integrating with an exoskeletal framework.

J.L. III depicts two youthful figures made in scratched glass material in a metallic landscape, where one stands encased in a rusted bird cage-headpiece, with blood-like tubes sprawling around them, evoking the relentless growth of ivy.

J.L. II portrays a figure in the act of revealing his skeletal structure within a geometric diamond and wire icosphere, exploring themes of introspection and transformation.

J.L. I features a metallic red figure reaching out for light in darkness, rising from within a female’s chest which is in an even larger mouth. This work explores textures, lighting, and body shapes in a subtle interplay.

"Salvation" features a female figure shrouded in a veil, rendered in a marble-like black texture. Wrapped around her head, a collection of masks show a variety of expressions, each affixed with iron wire. Crowned atop her head is a thorn-like headpiece, crafted from iron wire, evoking the traditional symbolism of suffering and redemption.

"Praying Bone" is a 3D artwork that brings together the human skeleton with the softness of flowers. It features a human head and a skeletal body in a pose that suggests prayer, supported by two skulls at its base. The overall form cleverly mimics the shape of male genitalia. The structure's design takes on a playful form, adding a touch of dark humor to the piece. By blending the human form with elements of nature, this piece touches on themes of life, humor, and the absurdity.
