The Show

Virtual Reality  |  Game Design

A surreal, photorealistic VR experience where identity is explored through dual perspectives—one confined and immersed, the other free to observe—creating a disorienting interplay between self-perception and external gaze in a shifting, dreamlike world.
The Show is an immersive VR experience leveraging Unreal Engine 5’s advanced capabilities to explore identity and dreams through surreal, interactive environments. Two distinct perspectives shape the experience: the VR player, seated and immersed in the world, and the PC player, a roaming observer embodied as a film recorder avatar. The VR player can see but not interact with this silent witness, while the recorder’s view is streamed onto a TV that has always been in front of the VR player, creating a layered sense of surveillance and self-perception.

In the video above, the PC player’s point of view is displayed in the top right corner.

Inspired by Carl Jung’s archetypes—The Self, The Shadow, and The Anima/Animus—each scene evokes deep psychological reflection. With accurate physics and rich narrative expansion, The Show blurs the boundaries between observer and performer, self and projection.
